Jan 2022. Compliance Operations Analyst

Description

  • We are looking for a Compliance Operations Analyst to provide administrative support to the implementation of the compliance program.
  • To succeed in this role, you should be familiar with risk management and our industry’s standards.
  • If you also have sharp business acumen, we’d like to meet you.
  • Your goal will be to ensure we operate in a legal and ethical manner while meeting our business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies including but not limited to EFCC, the Police in respect of all requests received as they pertain to Kuda’s customers
  • Identifying, investigating and reporting on transactions to relevant regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable policies and guidelines
  • Carry out periodic reviews of the customer onboarding systems and procedures to ensure the customer verification and identification protocols as stipulated in Kuda’s AML/CFT policies are always met.
  • Periodically review KYC records of existing customers for completeness and validity that the files and risk assessments are current and up to date; ensuring that due diligence standards are complied with
  • Review transaction monitoring alerts in line with prescribed procedures and assesses if there is a potentially suspicious transaction involved.
  • Where there are grounds for suspicion or a requirement for guidance in relation to an alert, escalate in line with the procedures
  • Sensitize relevant members of staff on AML/CFT red flags and how they can report to the Compliance team should they observe a suspicion.
  • Review operational practices, create and enforce compliance plans, and perform regulatory risk management functions
  • Work closely with the Legal, Fraud, IS Control and Internal Control/Audit teams on various cross-functional issues
  • Performing other related duties as may be required or assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • BSc / BA in Finance, Business Administration or a related field
  • Proven experience in the Financial Services Industry (a minimum of one year)
  • Basic knowledge of banking regulations and controls.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Fast learner and adaptable.

Team Lead – Reconciliation and Settlement

Location: Lagos

  • The officer will work to ensure that Internal controls around reconciliation are adequate, effective and functioning properly.
  • This role is to ensure that all bank reconciliations are properly and effectively prepared, coordinated and supervised.

Responsibilities

  • Resolving any service issues, processing customer complaints, by taking ownership and implementing new ways to make things better– always looking for ways to surprise & delight!
  • Managing the Risk Control Self-Assessment for the team and be involved in monthly testing
  • Identifying areas or processes for improvement, creating change requests, implementing improvements all to improve our customer’s experience
  • Escalating significant funding discrepancies or missing settlement payments to the team for investigation and resolution
  • Resolving exception items resulting from processing or rejected by the Settlement System
  • Ensuring that suspense items do not exceed the established timeline designated for each type of exception
  • Responding to general inquiries directed to Settlement from support or service areas
  • Assist in training, staff development, performance reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Work with operations to ensure that the business works follows operational and reconciliation processes
  • Conduct and report the assignment, management, and resolution of breaks for all reconciliations implemented including ageing metrics and pattern identification
  • Lead the analysis of the existing reconciliation processes in order to assess the strength of the controls and identify areas for improvement
  • Perform other relevant responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related fields.
  • Membership of an internationally recognized professional accounting body e. g. ACA,ACCA e.t.c
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of reconciliation process and must have led reconciliation teams.
  • Excellent writing skills, and ability to explain technical accounting issues to subordinates and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate competences for accuracy, attention to detail, integrity and update knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
