Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious international aid organization. Our teams are committed to supporting civilians’ victims of marginalization and exclusion, or hit by natural disasters, wars and economic collapses, by answering their fundamental needs. Our aim is to provide emergency relief to uprooted people in order to help them recover their dignity and regain self-sufficiency.

The PUI Nigerian Mission has been officially opened in April 2016, with a focus on meeting urgent needs, including improving access to food commodities, primary health care and nutrition for Internally Displaced People (IDP) and host communities (HC) living in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC). The progressive sectorial widening allowed PUI to start implementing an integrated approach from 2017 in food security, livelihoods, nutrition and health sectors, with the support of ECHO, FFP, OFDA and CIAA/CDC, in line with PUI’s global strategy. From the launch of the health care services in February 2017 to the end of April 2018, a total of 119,913 OPD consultations were reached in Bolori II, while more than 60.000 beneficiaries have been reached by our cash project.

In mid-2018, PUI has developed its comprehensive response by adding Protection and Community Outreach (PCO) activities to the existing programs in Bolori II. In the month of October 2018 only, more than 3.500 households have received door to door visit from the PCO team. In 2018, PUI has also scaled up its intervention with the opening of Monguno LGA base, with the main objectives of reducing morbidity and mortality of the most vulnerable population and promoting protection amongst the whole affected community. This opening in Monguno allowed PUI to reach the vulnerable population in Kukawa and Cross Kauwa LGA.

Jul 2022 Logistics Intern

Location: Abuja

General Objectives

  • The Logistics Intern  Supports the Logistics team in activities linked to the day to day management of Fleets, procurements, equipment, store and premises while supervising the cleaners and the Drivers and reporting according to PUI standards and procedures in order to have the Abuja office in optimal running conditions.
  • He/She works under direct supervision of the Logistics Officer.

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • In collaboration with Logistics officer and the procurement team, the logistics intern will support in streamline the procurement & delivery process.
  •  Assist in the receipt of procurement requests, clarification of requests as needed, and completion of purchase orders.
  • Support in organizing the procurement process.
  • Support in seeking products that offer good value for money and negotiating the best prices
  • Assist in following up on order processing to ensure timely delivery is made.
  • Assist the Logistics Officer in controlling the quality and quantity of all supplies ordered and delivered.
  • Support to ensure good relationships are established with local suppliers
  • Respect PUI procedures in all procurement activities.
  • Assist in the preservation of a proper paper trail and the filing of all procurement documents.
  • Support in facilitating proper tracking of all supplies received and ensuring related documents (delivery notes, waybills) are properly filed and copies forwarded to the Procurement Officer.
  • Support in updating the price list on monthly base 
  • Support in the archiving of procurement files and contracts are in compliance with PUI procedures


  • Assist the Logistics officer to ensure that the administrative documents for all vehicles are available, filed and monitored.
  • Support in organizing the schedule of vehicle movements and drivers at Abuja office level. 
  • Assist the Logistics Officer to report all cars incidents and prepare the reports.
  • Support in the llocation of vehicles to the staff during the working hours
  • Assist in updating the daily movement board (Airport dropoffs/pickups and movement within/outside the town)
  • Support to maintain data and update records of all vehicles
  • Fill the vehicle card of pointing on a daily basis
  • Support to repare duty roaster for the drivers


  • Assist in the organization and supervision of cleaning (and, if necessary, regular disinfection) of premises and storage areas.
  • Support to ensure the staff collective space is in good working condition (tidiness, water, equipment functioning…)
  • Support to ensure the timely repair of whatever is needed in the Abuja office and guesthouse
  • Assist to ensure that all documentation for bills such as electricity, DSTV, etc. is compiled and shared with the logistics officer and submitted to procurement for payment.


  • Assist in codifying all PUI equipment according to PUI procedures.
  • Suppot to locate every equipment and check the availability of the equipment on a regular basis in all designated places.
  • Support on a regular basis check that all equipment are working properly (water dispenser, gas cooker, printer, scanner, micro vave, refrigerators…)
  • Inform the line manager in case of equipment dysfunction.
  • Support to update the inventory list and the Abuja asset register.
  • Assist to Issuance of laptops and phones to new arrivals on the mission.
  • Support to supervise the loading and unloading of goods/materials

Store Management:

  • Support to manage and organize the reception, storage, and dispatch of all supplies at the store.
  • Assist to ensure all requests for stock are sent and delivered to the requesters in a timely manner.
  • Support to monitor the quality of products at the time of reception, in coordination with the supplychain team
  • Assist to regularly monitor the quality of products during storage. Pay special attention to expiration dates (if applicable).
  • Assist with monthly rolling stock takes and the annual stock take, reconciling inventory records with physical counts and sharing the monthly report with the logistic officer.
  • Issues all the required office items to staff.

IT / Communication:

  • Support in ensuring daily monitoring of all internet modems and equipment to ensure they are operational and charged.
  • Assist to communicates maintenance needs of all IT equipment (computers, printers, e.t.c), to the IT Officer.
  • Support in ensuring that all staff receieve their monthly airtime both for personal line and CUGs.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Give daily report to the Logistics Officer about the progress of the logistics activities
  • Support in archiving and centralizing logistics files related to his domain
  • The tasks and responsibilities defined in this job description are nonexhaustive and can evolve depending on the project’s needs.

Protection & PSS Program Manager

Location: Monguno, Borno

General Objectives

  • Under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator Monguno, and the technical guidance of the country Protection/PSS Coordinator, the Monguno Protection PM is in charge of developing and ensuring the good implementation of project activities.
  • The component under the Protection/PSS PM supervision, part of PUI holistic response to population needs, aims at setting up and managing a Protection / PSS program through a community approach in the area of intervention (Monguno LGA and environs)  to contribute  in raising community awareness, to set up a strong community network and to establish a good referral system between the different departments, and other relevant partner organizations.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Project Planning and Implementation:

  • Ensure that project action plan is prepared at the start of the project and reviewed periodically based on the feedback from the monitoring of the project. This also includes identification of support requirements from other sectors within the organization;
  • Develop the program monitoring tools with the FC and the MEAL Department.
  • Contribute to the definition of vulnerability criteria and assessment methodologies allowing more accurate targeting of PUI’s activities in the area of intervention;
  • Provide technical advice and training on protection and psychosocial support to all other operational departments, ensuring that protection/PSS issues and aspects are mainstreamed in other operational departments’ activities when necessary.
  • Ensure the coherence and the homogeneity of the activities under his/her responsibility (indicators and results follow up) and develop proper assessment mechanisms. Lead regular field reviews and ensuring best practices standards are met;
  • Inform his/her line manager of any relevant issue related to the project implementation.

Information Management, Assessment and Referral System:

  • Develop tools and strategies to ensure qualitative and timely data collection, communication and analysis
  • Develop referral pathways tailored to the type of cases identified, internally and externally. Develop the tools and processes to monitor the referrals
  • Develop tools pertaining to multi-sector rapid needs assessments responding to identified / emerging needs in the area of intervention
  • Formalize external referral pathways through MoUs with relevant implementing partners
  • Contribute to the design, management and supervision of internal/external referral, follow up and information management in our database system with support of MEAL
  • Provide support to Other PUI teams in communicating with the community and targeting/tracking potential beneficiaries

Capitalization, Reporting and Development:

  • Ensure internal and external qualitative reporting on all activities under his/her responsibility is done in relevance to PUI internal tools and requirements
  • Update and transmit on a monthly basis the PMT (Project Monitoring Tool) and other monitoring tools as a platform to follow up the implementation of the project
  • Write regular reports on all activities as requested by the FC and Protection/PSS Coordinator
  • Produce qualitative intermediary and final reports for donors as well background conception of concept notes and proposals
  • Capitalize lessons learnt and good practices throughout the project
  • Participate in the writing of comprehensive Activity Forms for all major operational aspects, in direct collaboration with the MEAL teams and with his/her supervisors
  • Participate in the development of comprehensive support documents for activities implementation by the protection/PSS teams
  • Create/review SOPs and propose relevant improvement, under Field Co and Technical Coordination’s management
  • Participate to the operational development of the mission through active participation to the mission annual programming process
  • Contribute to the design and drafting of new proposals and budgets in collaboration with the Field Co

Team Management and Capacity Building:

  • Prepare job profiles for members of his/her team, has them endorsed by the Field Coordinator and the HR Manager, and participate actively in the recruitment process (interviewing, testing, etc.), as well as in any decisions related to the termination of employment contracts of team members; Pro-actively propose HR changes within his/her department to FC and HR Manager
  • Familiarize himself/herself with all PUI internal HR regulations, and ensure that they are known and respected by his/her team
  • Ensure that the defined appraisal system is applied for all members of his/her team
  • Create coordination mechanisms specific to his/her team, and ensure proper supervision
  • Identify the training needs of the team and addresses them (organizational and technical support, methodology, organization of training sessions…) and interact with the HR manager in planning/conducting training. Follow the training received by the teams and gather contents for capitalization

Representation and Coordination:

  • In coordination with his/ her line manager, represent PUI in the project area with any relevant stakeholders, local, national and international partners, local community representatives in order to facilitate the implementation of the project’s activities;
  • Participate and represent PUI actively in Protection/PSS Sectorial, working group and sub-sectorial activities and programs in Monguno or when Delegated
  • Set up a network, coordinate and communicate to the stakeholders acting in the same areas; ensure effective coordination and collaboration with key stakeholders and partners – NGOs, civil society organizations (CBOs), community groups
  • Work in close coordination with relevant staff in other PUI departments, including Food Security, Nutrition, Health, and MEAL to ensure the strong integration of other sectors and to promote the development of new concepts/approaches/collaborations for future programming
  • In the event of visits from Donors, participate actively in the preparation and the smooth organization of the visit.

Logistics and Finance:

  • Ensure budgeted action plans are prepared at the beginning of the project and that they clearly reflect the activity plan of the project;
  • Be responsible for the budget lines under his/ her management, and provide forecasts on these budget lines on a monthly basis contributing to the monthly budget follow-up process;
  • Comply with all logistics rules, procedures and processes, ensuring the timely supply of all logistics needs for the successful implementation of his/ heractivities;
  • Be responsible for the eligibility and good utilization of funds allocated to the activities under his/ her management;
  • Analyze and propose solutions of budgetary reallocation if needed, after receiving a monthly updated financial follow-up (FFU) from the Finance Department;
  • Fill the cash forecast according to his/her budget areas as per PUI internal procedures

Safety and Security:

  • Contribute to data collection on safety and security issues in his/her field of operations and disseminate them to the Field Coordinator regularly or on an ad-hoc basis if urgent.
  • Ensure that the safety and security rules are known, respected and adhered to by his/her team
  • Ensure that projects, methodologies, or selection criteria do not place beneficiaries, PUI staff or any other persons in harm’s way. He/she alerts the Field Coordinator without delay, in case of impending danger to teams or beneficiaries.

Priorities of Departments

  • Build the capacity of the protection and pss team on protection monitoring, general protection, GBV, information management, protection mainstreaming, and psychosocial support.
  • Ensure the development of the protection/pss program quality in monguno.
  • Ensure a continuous grasp on the population needs and vulnerabilities and strengthen PUI reactivity responding to emerging humanitarian needs.
  • Support pui integrated approach through protection and psychosocial support trainings for other departments for qualitative mainstreaming.
  • Strenghten referral mechanism internally and externally.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Education Degree: A relevant Master Degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in Psychology, Education Science or Social Work is necessary.
  • Language skills: Fluent in English, Hausa and Kanuri are an asset
  • Experience in project management and case management is required

Work Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a manager in humanitarian projects in the protection sector, and a strong experience in community based protection activities and protection monitoring. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities is an added value.
