Job Summary

  • The medical officer assists consultants in the day-to-day management of patients under the supervision of the Clinic Lead.

Job Description

  • Reporting to the MD / Clinic Lead medicine, the medical officer assist consultants in the day-to-day management of patients under the supervision of the Clinic Lead.
  • The Medical Officer will also take an active role in overseeing the medical care of patients and the functionsperformed of medical staff.
  • They may participate directly in care when services are being initially implemented.
  • They may also help assess and diagnose needs and plans of action for individuals and families.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that patient care and is optimal and is in adherence to the clinical guidelines and The Sickbay Clinic quality standards.
  • Performing inpatient and outpatient reviews with initial assessment and management.
  • Providing necessary documentation on health reports and discharge summaries ofpatients.
  • Liaising with consultants regarding the provision of Inpatient and Outpatientassessment and care, including diagnoses and medication plans.
  • Providing medical cover (routine and emergency), during hours of duty and work inconjunction with the other Medical Officers to ensure the provision of a 24-hour serviceto the hospital.
  • Relating with patients’ relatives/caregivers on the present state of health and further management.
  • Making entries into the patients’ notes as appropriate, following ward rounds or any other patient examinations, communication or procedures.
  • Undertaking within your level of experience and competence, certain medical procedures required by your senior colleagues.
  • Administering intravenous medications/therapy as required.
  • Providing urgent medical attention and urgent treatment to staff in case of accident or sudden illness, in liaison with other clinical staff on duty.
  • Certification of deaths, completion of death certificates and all relevant documentation including, if appropriate, cremation forms and any documents required by the coroner.
  • Undertaking emergency procedures as required (including resuscitation), taking the lead as necessary.
  • Complying with all hospital policies and procedures, in particular those relating to health and Safety at Work.

Responsibilities

  • Accepting written prescriptions or refill requests from patients and evaluating information for completeness and accuracy.

  • Delivering quality customer service to patients, responding to inquiries, questions, or requests.
  • Verifying the accuracy of patient information.

  • To provide consultations, treatment and follow-up of patients according to The SickbayClinic protocols, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the beneficiaries.
  • To undertake health programme activities guaranteeing the efficient and effective sensitisation, mobilisation and participation of the targeted communities, thereby maximising performance.
  • The CHO shall ensure that supportive supervision is given to the nurses while ensuring guidelines set in the health protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Organizing and carrying out care and treatments, performing consultations and other minor medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patients(and family) when necessary.
  • Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill inpatient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.), and reporting any problematic situations and cases that may arise.
  • Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed, and Conduct data quality assessment on a weekly bases
  • Participate in planning and undertaking health surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the health program activities.
  • Responsible for providing inputs and data for monthly health activities’ reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate and update progress in weekly technical meetings with health staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health from a reputable institution.
  • Applicants should have at least 2 years post qualifying experience and be registered with the National Council for Community Health Practice Board of Nigeria for Technician cadre.

  • Experience having managed a team will be an added advantage
  • Two years of relevant professional work experience, including in a developing area, in public health and nutrition

Front Desk / Admin Officer

  • The Front Desk / Admin Officer will oversee all receptionist and secretarial duties at our main entrance desk.

  • The Front Desk Admin Officer will be primarily responsible for overseeing all receptionist and secretarial duties at our main entrance desk.
  • He/She will perform a range of duties including admin management of the Front desk, answering phone calls, receiving patients, managing patients’ folders/case files, payments and scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner.
  • The front desk officer will also provide the required paperwork to be completed by patients as well as the entering of patient details into the hospital’s database.

Responsibilities

  • Register guests/clients and attend to them in a prompt and timely manner
  • Log all registrations for the day.
  • Answers the phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Pre-admits patients by receiving bookings from physicians; confirming admitting privileges of physicians; interviewing patients; entering patient information into the hospital’s database.
  • Ensures patient’s arrival to a hospital room or testing area by assigning patient beds; notifying nursing unit of patient’s arrival; calling volunteer to transport the patient to the assigned area.
  • Receives incoming communique and forward to their relevant departments.
  • Provides information to the public by answering admitting procedure, hospital regulation and service inquiries of patients and the public; referring inquiries.
  • Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients’ arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff

  • Make sure the consultation rooms are well prepared and all stationaries for use by the doctors are in place.
  • Prepares daily reports of patients seen in the hospital.
  • Clear corporate patients to access care by collecting a referral letter monthly where applicable.
  • Ensure persons accompanying emergency patients to the hospital are well guided, monitored and looked after.
  • Do a checklist of all unit equipment. Report any equipment issues or service downtime to the Operations Manager.
