Job Description

  • We are looking to recruit a Communication Associate with a passion for science, technology, and facilitation in Lagos.
  • If you are highly organised, enjoy communicating effectively with stakeholders and have an interest in the Education and Technology sector then we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a communication team to create and develop clear communication and promotional plans.
  • Capture and document media content ( pictures and videos) of the kids, daily activities at the maker space, and engage our community effectively.
  • Create and design monthly content calendars and newsletters
  • Contribute to the communications strategy  for current and existing activities, and promotions
  • Work with the content team to produce relevant, compelling social media updates with links to activities or promotions
  • Analyze media coverage; measure and provide reports on each campaign and develop responses when needed
  • Respond to inquiries from all our Social Media platforms as well as emails and phone calls.
  • Capturing pictures and videos of kids, day-to-day activities at the cafe, and converting them to storytelling.

Requirements

  • Degree in Marketing, Communication or related field
  • 1 year of experience in communications, PR, or a related field
  • Experience with creative storytelling, proactive press outreach, and building relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Executive-level written and visual presentation skills, with effective communication across functional teams.

  • Demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking with versatile copywriting skills.
  • Must be fun and able to connect with young people using various strategies.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail.

STEM Educator

Job Description

  • We are seeking a great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills for the role of STEM Educator.
  • The STEM Educator will be responsible for developing learning activities and facilitating excellent learning experiences for kids in STEMCafe’s programmes remotely.
  • The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated passion to enhance learning and instruction for kids, good quantitative background, and an interest in STEM Education.

Responsibilities 

  • Delivers STEM-oriented instruction (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through Project-Based Learning methods.
  • Implements STEMCafe’s approved contents remotely. 
  • Guides the kids to explore while creating engaging learning experiences that are fun and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the kids. 
  • Designs learning content that teaches kids to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively.
  • Prepares personalized reports (capturing the progress) of kids which guides the learning process towards developing their competencies and curriculum goals.
  • Recognizes the special needs of kids with learning disabilities, seeks the assistance of STEMCafe’s specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized and instructional accommodations during learning sessions. 
  • Participates in professional growth and development and stays abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in professional organizations of the subject taught, and attendance at corporation-sponsored events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field.
  • Empathy and great interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software such as Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents. Previous experience as a STEM educator will be advantageous.
  • Good classroom management skills.
